Once again, thanks to the rowdy crowd of Scottish northerners who get Holyrood Park rocking every January! There’s no place I’d rather kick off my season each year. Left Edinburgh disappointed that I was unable to hang in the front over the last 1.5km loop of mud slinging this year but saw some glimmers of hope out there and excited for the year of racing ahead.
There’s talk that this could be the last year the @great_run xc race is in Edinburgh. I’ve had the pleasure of racing the event for 5 years now and fallen in love with the city, fans, and course in Holyrood Park. To me, it’s everything cross country should be. I truly hope this wasn’t my last shot at representing #teamusa and chasing the crown there! #gexc2018#mudding

Finally getting around to post this, and as I haven’t been to the barn in a while (it’s been too cold!) I decided to update you guys with a little transformation!✨
I’ve been working super super hard since the end of the fall season. Top picture is my first ride on smacker (very unbalanced and my posture is forward, mind I was still getting used to his trot) and the bottom picture is from my most recent ride that I’ve gotten pictures of (you can see that my leg has gotten WAY better and I’m super proud, plus my position and my arms are a bit more elastic!)❤️
Welcome to my cramped, uncomfortable home gym!
Here's a quick sample of a gym session i did earlier on, variations of which I'd give to somebody who's experiencing some upper body weaknesses or imbalances.
The weights aren't too heavy for benching, I only have 50kg here.
ALSO I'm pushed for time, you can do far more than just this here.
Preferably lower the reps and increase the weight for the bench press if you have the equipment!
For strength and power athletes, up to six reps per set is probably the best mantra to live by!
These exercises will help your ability yo hold yourself up nd lean forward in the blocks and help your arms build lactic endurance so you can really power up the home straight at the end of your 200m.
Bench: Bar held slightly below the shoulders but above the nipples, arch spine, lower the weight slowly, press up as quickly as possible.
Overhead press: Do it standing, the ceiling in this room is too low so I've to do it on my knees, lower down to shoulders each time, don't lock out elbows.
Didn't get time to video the dips or sprint arms but quality is always better than quantity, fast and powerful is always the way to go!
