Nikolay Mikhailovich Belyaev was the last veteran who participated in capturing the Reichstag in 1945. He died on 8th of Decmber, 2015 in St. Petersburg at the age of 93.
He was 93, but up to the last days of his life he led an active life continuing the historic and patriotic work.
Nikolai Belyaev was born in a family of farmers in a small village of Kobenevo near the city of Tver. After eight years at school he began working in the newspaper called "Lenin's drummer." During the Great Patriotic War he served in 756th Regiment, whose soldiers first broke through to the Reichstag.
After the Victory Nikolai Belyaev served in the Pacific Fleet, and then he devoted 40 years of his life working at the factory "Red Flag."
