Greetings, its time for another #gameoftheday post and today I've chosen Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, for the PlayStation 3. Released in 2013 it is the sixth major installment in the long running and wildly popular Assassin's Creed franchise by UbiSoft. Just like all games in the series, its is an open world game, this time set in the early 18th Century in the Caribbean during the golden age of Piracy. Also at the same time the game shifts to the 21st Century where you play as a nameless agent working for the Abstergo Corp, who was able to get a DNA sample of long runnimg series protagonist Desmond Miles. You hook up to the Animus machine where you then play as Edward Kenway, a British privateer turned pirate/master assassin who is thrusted into the long time Assassin/Templar conflict. As the story unravels it is revealed that the Abstergo Corp is a front for the present day Templar society and in the past the Assassins wishes to establish a Republic of Pirates free of rule from the Spanish and British rule (who are under Templar control in the past.) The game chose to put an emphasis on open seas travels, being able to explore the Caribbean Sea and setting port for various ground missions in numerous famous locales like Havana, Kingston and Nassau. It opens up the game to the high seas including ship to ship combat. After the less than stellar reviews of AC3, this game recieved numerous accolades and was a return to form for the series. After this however, gamers were over saturated with A.C. games released at least one per year, ranging from good to below average. I really like this one, the ship to ship battles are awesome and easy to control and learn. It's available on numerous platforms both current and last gen. Check it out!!
