#tbt to my first marathon almost a year ago! It was February 19th 2017. This is when I fell in love with 26.2💙I finished in 3 hours and 49 minutes and I was in a lot of pain after! But, that feeling of accomplishment after you cross the finish line is like no other!
I have completed four more marathons since this one and I’m now a 3:14 marathoner. Marathon training takes a lot of commitment and dedication, you get what you put in and we all start somewhere! Set big goals that excite you and scare you at the same time and get to work to make them happen!
"Sometimes you have to stop worrying, wondering, and doubting and just have faith that things will work out." I saw this quote last night and it really resonated with me...I need to stop worrying about everything and just have faith. Have a wonderful day! 😊💕💕
Back to running after a week of for being sick 🤧🤒 Holy moly was today tough! The first run after a break is always so tough for me. The heat today certainly didn’t help either! Every step felt like I had bricks tied to my feet. I’m glad I got it done, though! The only runs I regret are the ones I didn’t do 💁♀️
When you’ve got your best friend beside you, it makes you feel like you can conquer anything! A little over 🔟 miles this evening;
2 Miles WU
4 x 800; 400 recovery between each
4 x 400; 400 recovery between each
3.3 Miles CD
Today was the first day of this cycle where I thought, YES! I CAN do this! My 800s were faster than what I thought I had in me, I told Dana (as I was gasping for air on my 3rd) that I am getting that sub 3:30 for my final 800...YOU BET I DID! 3:22 for my final 800 split. FASTEST EVER! I loved having him by my side, especially all of the high fives I got after each nailed split. Gosh this felt great!!!!! 👍🏼💪🏼👊🏼🏃🏼♀️🚴🏼♂️

13.1- what a great looking number!
Showing their favorite number is @annemarrrie_
We do it for the endorphins and the carbs 😄 #13.1 #halfmarathon#sisters
Today was the first time in weeks I had a true speed workout.
It was HARD.
I’m not even close to what I was hitting in the summer and fall...or even at the beginning of this training cycle! But I also wasn’t doing high mileage or marathon paced long runs a few days before speed workouts. 🤷🏽♀️
800-1200-1600-800 // 6:30 avg pace
Now I’ll go back to that tempo pace, k? Cool. 🤣

I needed that!! Lately my runs have just been meh. I have been taking it “easy” since I’m not training for anything yet. Since the move I have had to run inside since I didn’t know the area and we just had no time. Yesterday we can across this trail and I knew I had to give it a run!
Wow! What a perfect run. The weather was cloudy with a high chance of rain. I’m not going to lie I kind of wanted it to run towards the end of my run. But I splashed in all the puddles and had a blast!
I was pleasantly surprised how fast I ran and it felt comfortable besides that last mile when I pushed to get a 7 minute mile.
One more thing.. “Beigel was the school's cross country coach and a victim of the terrible shooting earlier this week. He heroically saved lives during the events on Wednesday.”
Use #runwithcoachbeigel and #runwithMSDXC to let the students and staff in Parkland know that they have friends in the running community. Please spread the word.
7 miles at 8:22 pace. Splits are in my story.
Warmer than it looks because of weekend snow on the ground..the snow adds +10 Instagram points though..
Strong workout on the roads: 6x800s averaging 5:58 pace. Felt good and feeling fitter with each workout.

When it’s O dark thirty, the camera doesn’t work so well. 😂 Rest assured however, this crew OWNED today’s speedwork session. 👊💪 There may have been some curse words, but they were all running so fast I couldn’t hear them. 😛 #speedwork#tracktuesday

All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.
Dear SoCal, thanks for swapping weather with us. Sorry about those freezing temps. 😘 Another day of chasing dreams 🏃🏻♀️but today has the added perk of 70° in DC in February! Can life get any better? I submit that it cannot! 😆 I really was that annoying girl running with a smile on my face today! Gah! I love me some warm sunshine! ☀️ 8 | Run Streak Day 2️⃣8️⃣8️⃣

Uphill battles ⛰
Ethiopia is less than 2 weeks away, and honestly I’m more nervous about this one than any previous African trips. Although my relationships gained via this platform in Iten ( @iten_kenya ) were just a social media friendship, I knew I was in relatively safe hands prior to that first trip to Kenya. As for Ethiopia, I know nobody. My only Ethiopian contact is friend @mamitumolisa , but she’s living on the other side of the world and is not connected in the humanitarian fields. ————————————————-
I’m posting this because I was asked recently “ what goes into pre visit prep “ . And as you can see, not a lot. It’s looking at a map, googling areas of poverty and searching on here and twitter for contacts. DM’ing them, and arranging a meet up. I’ve done that maybe 20 times in the last year and met photographers, nurses, doctors, drivers, farmers, governors and NGO’s as a result. Think the morale here, is that if you are persistent enough you can find a way - and although right now I haven’t found one in Ethiopia, I will do, as I search for more schools to support and more locations to explore and feedback to you. #ethiopia#kenya#travel#me#humanitarian
To actually LIVE... is courageous... most people just exist!!! •
Aren’t you afraid to run in Mexico? Is it safe to run alone? Can you just run “anywhere” there? Are you afraid that your boys will be kidnapped? These are just a few of the questions I have received on IG since I’ve been here... So let’s address my thoughts and feelings about life in Mexico. NO... I have never felt afraid here... One time...I did run into a sleeping drunk man that jumped up as I ran by asking me if I wanted to fight... I was like... lay back down weirdo but that’s all!!!! I don’t fear much... maybe that’s naive but I trust in His plan... Now I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think about my kids safety here... I’m a mom... I worry about them 24/7... it’s my job and it irritates all of them... but HONESTLY... I feel safe here... I have never run into a mean, sketchy, crazy person that made all the hairs stand up on my body! Although...I’m sure there’s bad here... just like any other place! With that being said... Here is a list of things I actually “fear” here in Mexico.... •
🖤 Stepping on fishing lures while running barefoot on the beach.
🖤Rattlesnakes... I’ve already run into one this week... it’s the desert meets the ocean here.... SNAKES ARE EVERYWHERE! •
🖤 Tripping on the uneven jacked up roads or getting hit by a crazy driver while running and recording IG stories (worst drivers ever).
🖤 Not waking up in time to see the sunrise.
🖤Running out of tacos.
Apparently... I don’t worry about much... just the important things! NOPE...My run did not suck today... Run Streak Day 631! #runningwihtheXOOLKIDS#justJEN#caboLIFE
Double run day, to start mixing it up! Started with some easy miles before sunrise (good thing too, because I only have one speed in the morning: Slow As Molasses). 📸: @allenk7, who rode behind me the whole time to make sure I didn’t get eaten by the boogeyman
