The forecast kept changing but we did end up with 40F at runnin’ time! Got in 3.4 miles with some threshold effort and a modest uphill on the way back. Gotta get those hard runs in because the sidewalks might be icy tomorrow.

We all run for different reasons, a clearer mind, a faster time, freedom, friendship or simply for fun! Whatever your reason there are always ways to improve and bring out the very best version of yourself, seek knowledge and progress.. that’s what I try to do everyday and share as much as I can on here! Was lucky to make this cool video with @prodirectrunning, featuring up coming athletes @charlottewingfield@tomevansultra@official_kaishow and of of course I pop up now and then! 😜 They have a great competition to win £300, link is in my bio. Check it out, oh it’s better with the sound on too! 🔊 What can you achieve in 2018??
#snowday today!! This is rare for Houston but the second time this season! When it snows in Houston offices and schools close! Ha ha! It’s been a cozy day at home with my mini and I just finished my workout on the treadmill 🙌 Now it’s time for #candyland and hot chocolate! Speaking of hot chocolate...12 days until the @hotchocolate15k
After receiving the news that I have a complete tear of my ACL from the @rundisney Super Hero Half Marathon last September (the one I placed 2nd in), I needed a long run to process that information. Should I be running on a torn ACL? Probably not. Did it stop me from today’s training run? Absolutely not - because today’s run wasn’t about the speed or the distance, it was about the therapy session between me, myself, my music and the trail. The overcast clouds in the Bay this morning perfectly reflected how I’m feeling right now- I’m in a fog. But towards the end of my run the sun was starting to shine through, and as I finished my run, I was proud that I was able to complete 14 miles. My knee was taped and bandaged like crazy, but I completed my miles. I’ve made it back from an ACL injury two times already and as they say: third times the charm 🤨so until my surgeon says I can’t run, I shall continue with my training, taking each step with just a little extra caution. Wish me luck!!
Finding joy in the unexpected causes me to smile so big it hurts. Lately, I am filled with so much happiness💜 .
I know I’m definitely not an injury expert- but nearly 12 weeks into “runner not running”...I wanted to share something that has really helped me move forward.
LETTING GO...of trying to control the fact that I’m injured. Once I let go of this, I began to heal. Perspective has been huge. I saw swimming as something I would NEVER do; now I love the challenge. Changing my perspective from “I hate swimming” to “I’m going to embrace this new challenge” has made such a big difference for me.
LETTING GO...of my own negativity. Instead of negative energy towards my pelvis, I’ve replaced it with happy, healing thoughts. That’s made a world of difference!
This week, I have swam 3 times(so far). I did not feel my injury during/ after/ or the rest of the day. Embracing challenges and finding joy are literally healing me.
LETTING GO.. of being “only a runner.” Whatever you need to do to find a NEW joy to replace something you have lost(like running for me): do it. Even if it’s scary, and FUCK IT!!!!!!! Who cares if you aren’t GOOD AT IT (I’m NOT a good swimmer!) If it scares you and challenges you & makes you happy... DO IT NOW. (Bonus points to you if you are trying something that you previously said you would NEVER do)

Totally kicked this tempo run in the 🍑! 🏃🏼♀️
1 mi w/u
4 mi tempo @ 8:13, 8:06, 8:00, 7:53
1 mi c/d
Felt that comfortably uncomfortable feeling and my avg HR was only 158 😳 I don’t think it’s ever been that low during a tempo 🤣Afterwards I did an hour of body pump. Super excited and happy with where my training is going! ☺️ #runjillrun#marathontraining#temporun
I really didn’t want to work out but managed 6 miles after work and then 20 minutes of yoga 🧘🏽♀️ later that evening. Flexibility has never really been an issue for me but last year I was hampered by a few injuries and I really neglected strength training. I’m trying to focus on how to balance my love for running with all my new activities that I want to be good at 🤨. How do you balance?
Today was tempo Tuesday, it was a beautiful sunny cool day for a run, my body had other ideas. After 2 miles my calves were so tight that I had to run walk the rest of the way back, ugh. Been a while since I had a bad “run”. These usually frustrate the crap out of me. Today I just waddled on back and took as a learning experience that not every run is great. Well let’s just hope my calf muscles ease up. #runnerslife
“You did not wake up today to be mediocre” Today is a gift. Why wake up every day and not full ass it?
Why go through the day and not give your full ass to all the things you do?
Ok friends. Reseting tomorrow. Giving my full ass to all the things I do. I’ve gained a handful of lbs 🤦🏼♀️because holidays, vacation and basically I love chocolate 🍫 No I don’t think I look bad, no I’m not going on a diet and not I’m not quitting chocolate.🤓
Anyways - hammered out my AT workout on the TM tonight because the roads here are slick. I had to stop at certain time to pick up my boy 💙. I probably could’ve gotten a couple more miles in at AT pace, which makes me happy. I felt sluggish and heavy today, but my body was moving. I never settled into a good cadence on the TM, my legs wanted to go faster. Such is TM running 🤷🏼♀️
Glad these two ladies @chaechel.lyn And @amybretl where suffering the mental torture right next to me 🤣

Let me start out by saying how good our God is. This evening I ran 8 miles in this 34 degree weather. This time last year I was finishing my last round of chemo and 6 months ago I could barely finish 1.5 miles. If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past 2 years is to put your trust in God and shoulder to the grindstone. Then, anything is possible.
Coming back from a lower lumbar injury and let’s just say walking and running have become every day part of life now . Spent New Years weekend laying down on a heat pad was brutal but anyway life goes on . Took a week off from the gym only to realize gym is life but knowing when to slow down was my downfall. What could of been a week of rest has turned in to six weeks of recovery. Beast mode has new meaning. Lol Hope everyone had an amazing new year . New year new adventures! Philadelphia coming in feb Dallas next week ! Hiked after work and ran this evening. I have a different IG for personal and this one will be for fitness and motivation. Stay fit pimps ! #therungroup#runnerscommunity#fitness#runnerslife#fitdad#weightlifting#beastmode#nikerun#nike
Belly already in the way. Those legs though 🤣 I found out if I turn my headphones up loud enough it drowns out my withdrawal from caffeine headache! Send ☕️ ☕️. #momlife#toddlerlife#runnerslife#boymom

To sleep or not to sleep? Sleep won this morning and turned my planned 8 miles today into a 6.5 sweat fest on the treadmill. Did hill training intervals followed by upper body, stick/foam rolling and goofing around with some yoga. I’ve learned trying new poses may not be best to do around littleman because he will die laughing when you fall.
