#tbt to early morning in Chicago last Saturday. This was at almost mile 6 of the 50 miler. The course was a beautiful out and back stretch along the lakefront. Today was one of those days where I was working from 7am and had too much pressing shit to get done to get out of the office to the gym early in the day. And when this happens and that clock ticks closer to 4pm, I find it's much harder to muster the motivation to go and get the job done. The call for home starts to get louder, and Captain Lazy Bollocks starts to take over. When this happens I've got a tactic I use. I haul my ass to the gym and tell myself if I'm not feeling it after a few sets I'll go home. Once I'm in there I never go home. I love the little psychological games you have to play sometimes to get another session in the bag. The good news: there was more weight on every single drill I did for the leg bastard session. #gettingstronger#marathontraining

2. Memilih jalur yang aman, terletak dekat dengan garis pantai (shoreline). Lari di pasir seperti ini lebih mudah daripada lari di pasir yang lembut dan dalam. Ada lebih banyak pasir yang keras saat pasang surut.
3. Mulai dengan jarak pendek. Lari di pantai memiliki dampak yang lebih berat pada Achilles Tendon dan sendi pergelangan kaki dibandingkan lari di aspal atau permukaan lainnya. Karena itu, hindari langsung melakukan long run dan sesuaikan pace Anda.
4. Alas kaki. Tetap gunakan sepatu untuk menghindari terkena potongan benda tajam yang mungkin saja tersembunyi di pasir.
5. Gunakan tabir surya, berlari di area terbuka seperti pantai berarti membuat Anda berpotensi tidak saja terpapar sinar matahari langsung, melainkan juga sinar matahari akibat pantulan dari air laut atau pasir. Keduanya sama-sama memiliki efek negatif.

Empire Mine Road Trail. Been meaning to do this for months. Closed road, paved, out and back route. Scenic, albeit desolate. Perfect for a Sunday morning while the rest of the city (and family) slowly rises to life.
