I completely love this action running shot taken during my first half of this season a few weeks ago at the Brew City Half Marathon. 🔥
I felt strong, hydrated, and was very satisfied with my finish time of 2:25 considering the heat and wind (and of course being the first race of the year!) Focus and energy and almost even a smile 😉💪 This was an awesome race and I can't wait for more this year! 🙏 Run on, my friends!

Some days I wonder why I put a picture up and my heart out there. Other days I am reminded why a quote was laid on my heart and words come from out of no where. But everyday I feel like there is so much reassurance from the man upstairs that I should be here and now. Go after the things you want, love hard on the things you love, and don't let anyone make you feel wrong for that. Alright, Wednesday, lets do this 👊🏻🙌🏻💗🙏🏻

I was run-nayn, too, but then I got a little bit hungry. 📷@kernducote

I cannot emphasize the importance of testing gear before events. I ended up with this nasty chafing after only running 13 miles!!! My next event is a 100K. I will NOT be wearing this bra for that. Check the blog in the upcoming weeks for reviews on different sports bras/gear. :)
that was ROUGH. glad it's over. I went a weird route (basically finished what I started Thursday), couldn't keep my legs slow enough until I hit terrain I knew, saw a gorgeous sunset, ran along a fairly busy road in the dark that only sometimes had sidewalks, and felt like I had the wind in my face the entire time. I also had mapped the route out a couple of days ago and I don't know if I messed up then or while I was running, but I thought it was going to be 9 solo, 2 with bix, but it was 8 and a little solo, almost 3 with bix, which was suuuper disheartening to realize right towards the end. oh, and I ran out of nuun and forgot to get more so I just drank half a coke before I started and ran with water, which is (surprise!) not the same thing. splits were 9:59, 10:04, 10:10, 10:34, 10:41, 10:49, 10:54, 10:25, 10:47, 10:29, 9:47. grateful I was able to crank that last mile out!
You will never become a great runner if you care what other people think... no ones starts out great.
So struggle, be “slow”, run just one or two days a week... who cares. Just don’t quit and you can become a great runner. 🏃🏻♀️💘 Today 5K // 29:49// 5’56’’ ⏱
soooo this was a run that did not go according to plan. it rained earlier today, but it stopped and I thought it was perfect, overcast and cool but still light out. I could explore new routes! I wanted to bust out my long run, so I left Bix at home and planned to scoop him for the last 2 miles. hard nope. maybe a mile or so into my run, it started spitting (Boone-ing, as we called it in college where that was our constant weather) and I was fine with that. I run with my phone since I don't have a garmin, but it's semi protected in my armband, at least against drizzle. and then it started raining harder, and it was actually raining, and I kept going back and forth about whether I should stick it out or call a lyft. I was cold and rain kept getting in my eyes, but I wanted to just get the 11 miles over with, and then it was raining harder and I decided it wasn't worth having to replace my iPhone. I'm not that stubborn. so I decided to make today my 5 mile day, and the 11 could wait for tomorrow or Saturday, and I ran to brueggers and waited for my lyft, my knight in honda civic armor, and then I dripped in his car the four something miles home. before it started raining the run was great! I had to keep telling myself to sloooow down and my legs didn't want to. Lolita got automatically returned to the library and someone else snagged it (why are there limits on the number of people who can check out an audiobook?) so I listened to someone like you by sarah dessen, which was my absolute favorite book when I was 15. and now I have to go back out and walk Bix... le sigh.
morning miles are just not my thing. BUT it wasn't too hot and I'm happy with our pace. these shoes are probably going back, my feet just don't love them. and I don't need to hold onto something I don't love. Bix dragged a LOT - it could've been because we sort of mixed up the route so there were new things to smell, but I'm still glad his joint supplement is getting in tomorrow. I should also take him to the vet, just to get a professional opinion about how far/often I should be running him. I'm going to the desert museum today, and I'm stooooked!!
