Registered Nurse Lori Applebee (left) discusses newborn child care with Port St. Lucie High School students (from right) Vanessa Smith, 17, Cazlynn Wilson, 17, Carley Murray, 16, Jessica Walter, 16, and R.N. Kimberly Mayo (background), along with newborn Alaina Mae Morales, daughter of Nicholas Morales and Natalie Orozco (both not pictured), during a hospital tour for the Day in the Life of a Nurse event at Tradition Medical Center in Port St. Lucie. "It's a great experience to share my knowledge of nursing, my love of nursing, to pass on to the kids who are our next generation, they'll be taking care of me," Nurse Applebee said. The annual event, on Friday, Nov. 17, pairs students with nurses in different areas of the hospital to learn about what they do. "It really allows me to really verify that I do want to be a doctor, for children, so it's a good experience to me," Vanessa Smith said.
