After spending two weeks in the US with Michaels family and a crazy journey back, I slowly feel like coming back into a normal rhythm. Being sick for already a week in the US I wasn’t looking forward to be on a plain and travel for 20 hours. (I also am not the most relaxt flyer) Our first flight out of Louisville was at 6 am in the morning, a very early start to our day. We arrived in Florida and had quite a layover there. 2 hours before our next flight we got the notice that our flight was canceled. Due to weather conditions the next flight we could take back to Zürich was scheduled for 48 hours later. (Little meal down right there...) we where able to find a new rout that only would delay us 24h... still not what I was hoping for. Since snow in NY was the cause of our cancelation we hat no accommodation by the airline, so finding a place to sleep was the next challenge. I went on every hotel booking website I knew...to find out that all hotel where book out 99% due to a convention happening in Orlando... not a single room was available (at least in our budget). After I made my peace with sleeping at the airport, I gave #airbnb one last try... and 🎉 we found a host! Even though this definitely goes into the category “bad flying experience” Im so thankful for meeting kind, friendly and helpful people along the way in such an situation. I was very emotional and tired so kindness felt like a warm shower for my soul. Being in a city you don’t know anyone and still meeting people that open their homes and extend words of kindness chances everything. I truly believed in kindness and am always so thankful whenever I am in a position of receiving it as well.
