I know this isn’t the best quality, but I wanted to include some Renner. Because I don’t do that enough, even though I always want to. Anyways, this was just a clip I found randomly. I think they’re talking about getting hurt on set. But I’m not sure. 😂

They seem to always fight over Natasha. 😂
Who do you ship Natasha with?

Without the slightest doubt, 'Arrival' is one of the best sci-fi films to come out in these past few years. Easily. It's already an impressive achievement on its own, but when you place it within the sci-fi genre alongside some films, that is when you can see how incredible it is. On a rewatch it may not be as striking as it was in the first place since the little twist in the story was already known. However, you can take that something that is one of the most creative things about 'Arrival' and it would still be brilliant because it showcases the alien invasion theme in a much more different way than the one we're accostumed to. It relies on the basic knowledge of communication and tries to tell us how important it is to fully understand each other and other forms of life. It's not about big action or defeating the aliens, 'Arrival' cares about emotion, about showing the humanity and realism in a futuristic world that visually and thematically feels distant from ours, but whose message hits really close to home. The cinematography is stunning, especially the scenes with the aliens and their writing which are a total feist for the eyes, and the score is as captivating and fitting as you would expect in such a praised film as this one from Denis Villeneuve himself. Amy Adams delivered a fantastic performance in a challenging role that should've granted her an Oscar nomination. Still bitter about that one. The big reveal to which we walk towards the whole film with little clues about what that's going to be is a really emotional one that too raises a lot of question and leaves you thinking what you would do if you were put in such a difficult situation.
Choosing to approach differently a somewhat recurrent theme in its genre, thought-provoking 'Arrival' managed to add originality to its already long list of qualities. 9.4/10
