Turns out our latest #salomontv film ‘Becoming History’ has been getting blocked by YouTube for the past few weeks after getting flagged for ‘inappropriate content’ because JF Cusson says the F word twice in it. 🤔 Given what I see coming out of the news in the US pretty much every single day, this makes me go 🤦♂️ Regardless, we’ve now bleeped the offending words and have reloaded the film. It tells the story of the New Canadian Air Force from the perspective of the 20th Anniversary Of The @Salomon Teneighty ski. If you haven’t seen it, I’ve put a link in my Instagram profile. #skiing#freeskiing#history#slopestyle

This week in 1984, the space shuttle Challenger, mission STS-41B, landed safely at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center following a successful seven-day mission. This was the first shuttle landing at Kennedy. STS-41B is also known for the first untethered spacewalk using the manned maneuvering unit by former NASA astronaut Bruce McCandless. Here, Challenger awaits launch on pad 39A at Kennedy.

My favorite photo in my collection. JFK with Bing Crosby's and his wife's in there Palm Springs swimming pool. I doubt this has been published, maybe. It came from the estate of David Powers, assistant and friend of JFK. I believe this would have been the trip that JFK got together with Monroe. In honor of Presidents Day, I will be posting various artifacts from the President archives and library today. #presidentsday#americanhistory#history#america#maga#makeamericagreatagain#jfk#bingcrosby
Today, I finally had a day off at the same time as my honey. So we spent the afternoon with his kiddos, at the Ripley's Museum in AC. So many fascinating and bizarre exhibits, but this one stood out because it's so....now, so 2018. Turns out the original deception by filter was done by painting in the 16th century, not snap or insta filters in 2018. Poor Anne of Cleaves lost her potential queenship because her IRL didn't match her portrait, and Henry VIII wasn't having that. Let it be a lesson to us all - great angles and flattering light are great, but maybe not when there's a complete mismatch to what shows up in the mirror 😉
Tennis Fun Fact: Noone truly knows why zero is called "love" in tennis. Some think it comes from the French expression “l’oeuf” as in “egg” meaning zero, or the Dutch expression “iets voor lof doen,” which translates to “there’s no stake in the game". #tennis#fact#history#love
43/365 A kufiya woven in the last #kufiya factory in #Palestine. I viewed a mini-doc about the factory and bought three of them (swipe to see the others) to keep me company. They are lovely and warm and are wearable #history. Go to kufiya.org if you’d like to see all their amazing colours. #365 #scarf#woven#pretty

Stop 5 on my #NewOrleans#PresidentsDay tour is a site visited by FDR and Truman, and -- in the words of President Eisenhower -- was built by "the man who won us the war." Andrew Higgins' showed the President his famous Higgins Boats (which allowed troops to land on beaches without natural harbors) on September 29, 1942. Higgins had employees give FDR "three cheers," and then said, "And now, the President would like to see how quickly you can get back to work!" Higgins Industries is no longer there, but I visited a plaque on City Park Avenue where it used to be. Today, the space is occupied by Delgado Community College, whose graduates Higgins lauded as helping to secure an Allied victory.
Time for #Tornado#History - We head to Florida where #OTD (Feb 19) in 1974, a tornado skipped 50 mi from Crystal Beach to near Citrus Park (where worst damage occurred) & ended south of Dade City. SPC rating = F1, Thomas Grazulis rates it minimal F2. More at tornadotalk.com! - Image via newspapers.com. #wxhistory#flwx#weather#storms#science#historybuff

#Italy#beautiful#Italia#wlitalia#isoladelba#land#food#beverage#art#history#turism#life#weloveisoladelba
