Excited about the late Christmas present that arrived today- beeswax wraps, a keep cup, and a stainless steel food container! These are not necessary for zero-waste living at all but they've been on my list for over a year and I'm ready to put these to good use! 😊
We'd really love to visit Sequoia National Park to see one of the most gigantic trees in the world. Don't be fooled, they're not the tallest, Redwoods are.🌲

The kind of reading you do with wine...I just finished reading about a 16 year old girl who works in a garment factory earning 80 cents a day and is rail thin by misfortune (unlike rail thin fashion #models who starve by choice) and an eight year old boy sold to a garment factory by his poor rural parents. Now I’m moving on to hear some more about the devastating #environmental consequences of our gross over-consumption of #fashion. The thought of all of the toxic pollution, excessive waste, and the loss of forests and other vital ecosystems to make way for chemical laden cotton crops terrifies me. THIS is why I have been on a journey to educate myself and rehab the way I think about getting dressed: it MATTERS to real, precious people, and it matters to our planet. There are increasingly more ways to consume more wisely, and the alternatives that have felt right for me have been #secondhand shopping and, more recently, keeping a lean closet, so that I celebrate a few things I love instead of tons of stuff that I am so-so about. One of my many wishes is that we get to a place where we are less bound to our material things, and more concerned with life, both human and non-human, and that we value simplicity, fairness, transparency, equality, and empowerment more than we value our looks and our status. #consciousliving#bepresent#contentment#slowfashion#environmentalist#minimalist#womensempowerment#fairtrade#fairtradefashion#bookclub#endchildlabor#endchildpoverty#loveearth#loveeachother#myhearthurts#sustainablefashion#sustainableliving#sustainability
Enjoy this video of the waves crashing in keaukaha, then return to finish reading my caption⬇️⬇️⬇️ Enjoy it? You should have! The ocean is wild and the Aina is 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼. I wanted to jump into your feed and spread some ideas around as to how to be more earth friendly. There's the usual, drive less, go vegan etc. but those can be difficult and intimidating so here are some tips to minimize your consumption and be more mindful of the Aina that you maybe hadnt thought of and may be more realistically achievable for you right now: 1.do you wash your hair in the shower? Do you use body wash in the shower? Well guess what you don't need both. Let your shampoo be your body wash and only use body wash on the days you don't wash your hair. 2. Wash your hair less frequently, you'll go through fewer bottles, save money and your hair will like it, trust me! 3. if you shave your legs guess what, you can save money again! Instead of buying shaving gel/cream, just use the body wash that's already on you. Again, save resources and money! 4. If you have a need to pack lunches for work or outings, you don't need to buy ice packs, just fill old water bottles and freeze them, you'll save money and recycle! 5. Buy as few individually packaged items as possible, this is most easily exemplified by food. Boxes of granola bars, boxes of popsicles, single servings of yogurt (use tupper ware!), toaster waffles, the list goes on and on, just be mindful of how much waste you're producing just from your snacks. I hope these are some things you can implement to start making a positive impact on our planet! Malama pink, keep the Aina ono👍🏼
Hey 💁. It's me. Your favorite waste free friend.
Check out my brown rice. Took this giant mason jar to the grocery store, had them weigh it for the tear weight, then filled it up with enough brown rice to last two adults a couple months. It's organic brown rice too btw for you organic snobs out there.
Anyways. Don't buy plastic. You don't have to. And it's the best thing we can do for the environment on a daily basis.
K, Thanks! 🙋
