REVIEW: So @mackiemayor has been the talk of the town this week. But no one has really said whether it’s good for people with babies and kids yet. We went this morning at 9:45am (it opens at 9am) with our two and a half year old. We got the tram to Piccadilly Gardens and then walked up to 1 Eagle Street (it’s not far from Bluu bar in the #northernquarter). First impression was ace building, but they really weren’t thinking about prams when they decided on big heavy double entrance doors 😱. There’s absolutely no way you could open those doors AND push a pram through by yourself.
Inside it really is as impressive as everyone’s been saying. Light and airy, loads of space - I love @altymarket but this is on another level. They have lots of high chairs available. We put our son on the end of one of the long communal tables and he was very happy there! Our pram folds tiny so it wasn’t an issue in terms of where to put it, but I’d say it’s so spacious that you shouldn’t have any problems parking a pram. Worth mentioning that during our visit we only saw two other babies/toddlers. It’s much more ‘young professionals’ than ‘modern families’ probably partly because it’s not in a suburb and also because it’s so new. I’m sure more families will venture there for a day out in the coming weeks and months.
There’s a ‘play area’ for kids which is like a little den located right next to the fish stall under the stairs. Cute but not much in it and definitely more for kids who like to sit and read as oppose to my little coiled spring 🌀😂.
Toilets and baby change are upstairs. There’s baby change available in the ladies, but not the gents which is a bugbear of mine. However, there is unisex baby change available in the disabled so thankfully at least somewhere for dads to change their babies too I guess.🙄
Food is great, you only need to look at the hashtag #mackiemayor to see the delights available. My kid just wanted a bowl of baked beans because he doesn’t appreciate hipster delicacies yet. They definitely don’t sell baked beans 😂. We stayed about an hour and it’d just started to get busy as we left, so get there early 👍🏽. Well worth a visit 😊 Lynda x #cafeadventuresmcr
Sorry nappy bag but you’ve been relegated! A few months ago I decided for the last time to empty the nappy bag and leave it behind as a memorable part of history! It’s no longer fit for purpose.
I decided a backpack was more appropriate for carting around all the stuff that’s needed for a day out with the kids.
Really loving my new bag from @cabinzero

What a difference a few hours makes - after an amazing run in the fields earlier, this handsome beastie is currently hiding in my bathroom after hearing one firework about 2 hours ago. I dread to think what he's going to be like come 5th November, bless him 😢
