💭 OPINION: | HAIL TO THE THIEF DAYS: Radiohead in 2003. Labeled by NME as Radiohead's underrated masterpiece, the album "was never going to be another alt rock record, nor would the band meet pure electronic expectations post-KID A and AMNESIAC." HAIL TO THE THIEF assimilated instruments with laptops and laid down some pretty experimental, challenging sounds. "So much so... That the album has never had quite the same amount of adoration as the others." | Lucy Jones for NME Magazine, 2013

Liam is playing his favourite vinyl at the moment, but that's just because it's pink😂 The new Franz Ferdinand album Always Ascending is musicaly a colourful record. They try to evolve, and in my opinion, after a few run-through they do manage to convince me that this is a great album. Let's hope it stays that way, what did you think about it?

« "Drexciya" was an underwater country populated by the unborn children of pregnant African women who were thrown off of slave ships; the babies had adapted to breathe underwater in their mothers' wombs. » Drexciya was the duo formed by James Stinson and Gerald Donald. “Harnessed the storm” is one of the most important album in Detroit music history in my opinion. It’s a must listen. The album was released in 2002 on @tresorberlin record label. #aotd#albumoftheday#idm#detroittechno#detroit#music#album#harnessedthestorm
Torsdagssynths! Dagens album er et mesterligt synth-soundtrack, der vel nærmest kan betragtes som en art proto-Wu-Tang Clan/GZA. Et album pakket med ikoniske lydsider, der stadigvæk er værd at genbesøge for ny inspiration.
The Wonderland Philharmonic - Shogun Assassin (Baby-Cart 1980/Cinewax 2015)

I first saw today’s featured artists at the Roots N’ Blues N’ BBQ Festival in Columbia, Missouri in 2016. It was a star-studded three days of stellar roots rock, Americana, and blues, but the most impressive act by far was #TheBlindBoysOfAlabama. It was a soul-stirring set of richly harmonic and inspirational gospel delivered with a fervor that’s hard to match. I’ve been on the search for one of their #vinylalbums ever since, and finally came across one last week while #cratedigging at @gotwhatulikerecords, my favorite KCMO record shop. The Blind Boys of Alabama formed in 1939 at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in Talladega when its members were about 9 years old. Original members included #ClarenceFountain, a #Gospel#SoulShouter of the first order, and #JimmyCarter, who, in his 90s, was still performing with the current lineup when I saw them. They began their professional career singing for WWII soldiers before hitting the gospel circuit and dropping their 1st single, #ICanSeeEverybodysMotherButMine, in 1948. They hit their stride in the 50s, when black gospel was particularly popular as a gestation ground for rock and soul artists, and often performed at Civil Rights benefits for Dr. King in the 60s. In 1983, they starred collectively as Oedipus in the Broadway hit #TheGospelAtColonus, then followed a slew of collaborations with major musicians, performances for 3 US Presidents, and a slew of award-winning new material. They’ve stayed true to their roots through the decades, amassing an impressive discography, and scoring 6 Grammys for their efforts. The #AlbumOfTheDay is #TheFiveBlindBoysOfAlabama (1970), a hard-driving set of 10 heavy gospel tracks with soul-funk flavor. There’s nothing more essentially American than soulful gospel music and this is a sublime example of the particularly spirited variety of which the Blind Boys are masters. It kicks off with the fully woke protest anthem #TheWarInVietnam, the blistering hard gospel shouter #FeelTheFireBurning, the rocking growler #SendItOnDown, the call and response tent-shaker #JesusIsKeepingMeAlive, the moaning revival of #FatherIStretchMyHandsToThee, and the deep balladry of #IThankTheLord.
Today’s #albumoftheday is Bleed From Within’s Empire. This was the Scottish melodic death metal/metalcore band’s second studio album, released in 2010. Although Empire contains many nods to deathcore, the melodic death metal and even groove metal influences push Bleed From Within in a totally different direction. The riffs here are quite tasty, and the breakdowns that follow them are just as brutal. The guitars blend a fusion of melodic death metal and metalcore with a ton of other little nods to other genres. The instrumentation is absolutely heavy, but not without melody, unlike most deathcore. This blend reminds me a lot of In Flames and Darkest Hour, but with a more death-based vocal style. Fans of metalcore and deathcore will totally love this album, although fans of more traditional metal will have a more difficult time with the vocals, although the appreciation for the solid instrumentation will be quite apparent. If you are looking for a heavy, rage-filled album with excellent melodic instrumentation that isn’t afraid to get dirty, check this one out. My favorite songs off of this album are The Healing, The Novelist, and Vanity. The Church. Self Titled (US). Capitol Records. 1982. Or...”Of Skins and Heart” (w/ different sleeve design in Australia and New Zealand). EMI. 1981. Just to clarify, this record was re-sequenced and released internationally as, simply, The Church (1982) by Capitol in the US and Canada and Carrere in Europe. The music certainly has a different “sound” the we would later grow accustom too. More aggressive, for sure. A wonderful Byrd’s influenced Jangle Pop rather then the trademark Dream Pop that we know (and love). That is not a criticism. Don’t overlook this album if you enjoy Steve Kilbey’s (vocalist and bass player) Neo-psychedelia songwriting. It’s a treat. On this first album, he takes elements from 1960s psychedelic music and incorporates 80s New Wave to create a sound that is commercial and progressive. If you look (or...listen, that is) closely you can hear (subgenres) dream pop and, later, shoe-gaze coming around the corner. Those magical “ethereal soundscapes” are still-to-come but groundwork is already there. Finally, it’s the high quality of the songwriting that makes this a necessary stop. Look no further than the lovely 80s classic, Unguarded Moments. Hook-filled, New Wave, Jangle Pop...ecstasy. Oh... The 1989 CD on Arista had excellent sound. It also includes three extra tracks: "Too Fast for You", "Tear It All Away" and "Sisters", which originally appeared on the extended play “Too Fast for You” from 1981 #thechurch#goodmusic#records_feature#vinyllife#recordplayer#lps#audioporn#music#vinyligclub#vinyllove#vinylcommunity#vinylcollector#vinylcollectionpost#recordoftheday#albumoftheday#vinyloftheday#vinyladdict#vinyljunkie#vinyligclub#nowspinningonvinyl#igvinylcollectors#dustyfingers#recordaddict#huntvinyl

Foo Fighters is the debut studio album by American rock band Foo Fighters, released on July 4, 1995. Grohl wrote and recorded the entire album himself – with the exception of a guest guitar spot by Greg Dulli– with the assistance of producer Barrett Jones at Robert Lang Studios in Seattle, Washington, in 1994. Grohl claimed he recorded the album just for fun, describing it as a cathartic experience to recover from the death of his Nirvana bandmate Kurt Cobain.
Born to Run is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen. it was first released on August 25, 1975. The album added another five Top 15 Britons to the band's growing list of hits. Its world tour, which went through 74 cities, was the first time in Brazil.

Album of the day: Judas Priest- Unleashed in the East. Released in 1979, the record is arguably one of the best live records in heavy metal. From Rob Halford's incredible vocal range, to the tightness of the guitar and bass, this album will give you goosebumps. Stand out tracks include their cover of "Diamonds and Rust" and the legendary "Victim of Changes" which showcases Halford's ability to hit high notes even when performing live. "Unleashed in the East" is a perfect introduction to anyone who hasn't heard Priest; the live versions of the songs are better than the studio recordings. #judaspriest#unleashedintheeast#vinyl#album#victimofchanges#robhalford#kkdowning#glenntipton#metal#heavymetal#guitar#record#albumoftheday

We Were Promised Jetpacks - These Four Walls
1st domestic pressing
Limited edition on grey splatter vinyl
This album was released on June 15 2009 and reached No. 27 on the US Billboard Heatseekers chart. All their artwork is done by Dave Thomas at Fat Cat Records. For this album, the band gave him the idea of people being where they shouldnt be or no people where there should be. The concept is making do with what you've got and building things from scratch. I found out that the band's artwork and music are highly influenced by their home country of Scotland. Lead singer, Adam Thompson, explains, "It's rainy and miserable in Scotland and there are lots of angry people. In a way, that's a big part of why our music sounds the way it does. It's music that sounds sort of like that."
West Side Story (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Various Artists (1961)
Favorite tracks: Maria, America, Tonight, One Hand/One Heart, Somewhere, Cool & Finale
This post is me bringing out my inner theatre geek. I think the art of a musical is so underrated & it makes me sad but pieces like this last forever so I’ll survive. Here is West Side Story (duh) & it happens to be one of my favourites (also Glee did a killer remake of it)! I’m so happy I was able to find an original pressing ⭐️🎞
