How I learnt to run
Let's finish this marathon story - penultimate chapter in this story I'm writing 😜
10 miles and I was feeling fine. I kept the pace steady to the half point where the legs were just starting to hurt. That feeling of dread washes over you. Hurty legs, not the hurty legs!!! But I'm only half way!! I've got to do all that again!
The next miles are hard. They are the ones I struggle with. I've run 13, I've 13 to go miles. 13 to 20. Keep battling on, pain building with every mile, hours left to run.
Time for distraction. I went with a comedy podcast. 1 hour ticked off with an episode done. No watch looking, just listen, laugh along and try to lose yourself. For me it works and 5 or 6 miles were gone.
At 18 miles I stopped to refill my water. Slipped it off my back ready for the quick refill, I'd done it many times before. I panicked, fumbled, rushed and failed. The top wouldn't go on. I tried again and again. I just couldn't get it on!! The water station ran to my rescue and 3 of us tried for 5 whole minutes before we stupidly realised we had it on the wrong way!
Refreshed and most of all relieved I carried on. Shouting what had happened to Martha I reassured her that I was fine. Next two miles were easy. 20 awaited me and it was only 2 parkruns to go.
My last hug from Martha I told her I was starting to struggle. She simply hugged me and said it's all in your head. She pushed me to run on.
I replayed this in my head again and again. "It's all in my head" It's simple!! It's all in my head. Yes my legs hurt but really its all in my head.
I heard my other friends. Get it done! Finish strong! For the last 3 miles I just repeated these words as I sang to my favourite music again and again. Motivated as I passed walkers I ran on.
Hills I was walking, the many hills I was walking. The rest I ran. My pace was slow but I ran.
The 200m sign came the end was in sight, Martha and Daryl cheering. I threw my hands up and ran over that line!! I had done it.
Over the line, medal round my neck surrounded by hundreds of people I had a minute on my own. A little minute of tears by myself for me.
A girl who can. 🏅

#transformation Tuesday - Course personal best for me last weekend at Staverton 10 miler by 3 minutes . It was the first 10 miler I ever did last year . My pace plan is so much better than it was back then & I’m so pleased with the result as I’m on #marathontraining legs at the moment and wasn’t sure how it would go. Lovely race, even the sun came out !! Lots of enthusiastic cheers & support around the two loop course . Few little pesky lumps thrown in along the way but I really enjoyed it .
Here’s a couple of our favourites from this weeks requests 👌

💥LONGEST RUN EVER 💥
What a difference a week makes.... From last weekend to this weekends runs 👌🏻💝Loved it & yesterday’s !! Did 2 miles with Jaz first then met up with my running buddies, swipe for 🤳🏻. @wallbridgesteve planned all the route so all we had to do was put one foot in front of the other & follow & chat our hearts out, brilliant . Enjoyed every minute . :
Beautiful day here, great company & so the miles flew by .This run fills me with so much confidence & excitement that I might just make the mileage to get me marathon ready 👯♀️ :
Believe it or not I nearly went onto 18 miles once I’d reached 17 but decided to not push my luck & end on a high, feeling good .
Hope you have all had a great day running ,racing or training you are all such an inspiration 🙌🏻😍 #marathontraining#asicsfrontrunner#asicsfrontrunneruk#imoveme#vlm#londonmarathon#runangel
“It’s supposed to be hard..... the hard is what makes it great .” Wooohoooo I did !!! I got to that start line & I had my first good race of 2018,!!! I loved it . Complete opposite to last week, even if we did have wet feet again running through the stream & more mud 😳The course was where we do our #parkrun but just over the 4 miles rather than the #5k course :
A massive THANK YOU 😘😘😘😘 to you all from me !! This week was a massive wobble for me, thank you guys for catching me, pulling me up and encouraging me & thank you for all kind DM of support, It means so much 😍😘
The running community really is the most awesome , supportive, rocking community out there !! Happy Saturday night guys & gals , I’ve just come back from watching Greatest Showman with mini me !! What a fantastic movie 💝
Good luck to all racing & doing their marathon training long run tomorrow 👌🏻
Little appreciation post over here for this girl @bekah2.0 💕
After a rough start to our friendship because we only knew of each other and only knew the bad things that OTHER people had said about us - we still became good friends. We gym everyday together, we talk everyday about anything and everything - but most of all we have each other’s back! We empower each other and not bring each other down. The other week we were in the gym and she turned to me and complimented me on my body - she noticed how strong I was 💪🏼 I’ve never been small and it’s something I’ve always struggled with. But for another woman to stand there and compliment another woman on how STRONG she is brought me to tears. Legit; I dropped to the floor and cried - she thought I was being silly; but then I told her how far I’ve come and how hard I’ve worked for the body I currently have and for ANOTHER WOMAN to recognise this - was empowering. Over whelming.
- I’m sick of woman bringing other woman down because they aren’t happy in themselves. It needs to stop. The world would be a much better place if we stayed positive and lifted each other up!
Let’s empower each other more; make our appreciations public!
Give this girl a follow on her journey! She’s a 24 year old single mum who is doing her best to get through life right now! Mad ups for her 💕
Wind blown hair✔️ Bright red cheeks✔️Feeling Fabulous✔️🙌🏻 I’d be lying if I didn’t admit all the cold weather had me telling myself “you don’t have to exercise when doing keto...” I mean I wasn’t gaining, so was I really wrong!? 🤔 But the warmer (still cold) days in the past week, I got back running and saw the pounds dropping again. There is a reason I was doing this! 🏃🏻♀️💪🏻 I also had been slacking on my strict keto diet, and had more than necessary carbs here and there for about ten days... Man I felt that! So, Saturday started my keto reboot so to speak and I’m down 3 pounds since! 🙌🏻 So, I’m now back at it and still loving this journey! 💜😊 ...and it’s 70 out today and feels AMAZING!

This #c25k was harder, and I went slower, but I did it!
#transformationtuesday. On the left i felt sluggish and un motivated. I actually hate that photo with a passion. But i kept it so i can see how far ive come. I wish id taken an bra and pants snap so i could really compare but i hated myself that much i couldnt do it! 🙈 thankgod i snapped out of that and sorted myself out. I still have a little way to go another stone and ill be happy. The only person that can help you is....you. 💪🏻 #fitness#healthy#runner#running#c25k#c25k#halfmarathontraining
I’m constantly on the look out for running playlist ideas and I’m sure there are lots of people out there who are just as energised by music during workouts as I am! I have endless exercise playlists on my spotify so here is some music inspiration for your next run / whatever sport floats ur boat 👍
Also if you have any recommendations please let me know because I get bored of my playlists very quickly !!

Enjoyed a run with my buddy, Maddie, in between the rain showers on this awesome 70 degree February day! ♥️😊🏃♀️ #runhappy#justrun#mrtt#c25k
WHOLE30 lunch tip: eat a salad!
Sounds crazy, boring, and unbelievably monotonous am I right? But how many times do you go through the day and by dinner you have not consumed enough vegetables like you should have!? Salads are a great way to pack in lots of food ... and LOTS of vegetables. The best part, you can choose what vegetables YOU want! It doesn’t have to be lettuce to be considered a salad. Find your two or three favorite veggies with your favorite protein and a dressing you love and put it in a bowl and ENJOY. If spinach/arugula/romaine isn’t your thing, that’s OK! Find something you enjoy as a base and build from there.
My salad consists of:
🍴tessemaes ranch and mayo
What’s your go-to vegetable for your salads? Mine is broccoli slaw!
C25K Week 4 Day 1 VANQUISHED!!! Absolutely gorgeous day for a run/walk around Boston Public Garden!! Felt good to push myself a bit, but still dealing with issues with my calves being tight. Need to do more stretching and foam rolling.
Doing Whole30ish for most meals, trying to eat healthy majority of time.
2nd training of #C25K ✔️
Trying to incorporate more cardio to shed some of my stubborn blubber I have here and there (I promise you it’s there, tucked away under my tight leggings 🙃)
Stepped on the scale yesterday after one month of not weighing myself and I’m never doing that again lol. Seriously I don’t know why I keep that thing. It just makes me feel like 💩, which is silly. I’m making progress w/ my lifting, I can finally do core classes without having lower back pain and I feel more healthy in general. All these things are far more important than that stupid number. If you ever get upset about it too, just know you are so much more than a number 💕
