☀️🍃 Crisp, clean, morning vibes in all the gardens: front, patio, and coop. Damn I love a fresh and tidy garden changeover 🌼🍂
157 new seedlings were planted yesterday that will grow up to feed us (and the girls) until next spring. 🐔🌿 We left one big bed of peppers for a couple more weeks, and will fill it with carrot, turnip, and radish seeds then. This will be our first winter garden grown 100% from seed. 🙆♀️
Had that couples soak and massage this morning, and now, we veg. 😴
There's a little McDonald's... In everyone.
Food that doesn't age... or mold... or get eaten by fruit flies.
a #corporation that targets lower income #families and especially their #children... offering cheap filler in the place of actual #nutrition. .
What is #crazy is that it used to be a rad #burger joint that served real #food... and then some slimy #corporate DB's found angle after angle to increase profits by decreasing #quality through preprocessing, additives and #preservatives.
Ask any legit #restaurant owner what is the most difficult part of business and they will say it's sourcing the perfect amount of fresh #produce so they #waste as little as possible. The fresher something is, the more #tasty it is. The real problem for big business is scale. So when trying to serve food en mass globally, it's almost impossible to have any sort of continuity unless one is able to control their inputs. .
If I had a global food giant like McDicks, I would have used a more fair trade model. Follow good quality food down the supply chain... you will find good farms. I would start by investing in local farms and implementing supply deals contingent on GMP principles that meet or surpass our own here in North America. This would allow me to employ #local#people while also introducing #farming#education that would almost certainly go #viral. Once the supply infrastructure for the necessary tools and #nutrients were in place it becomes easier for farms to switch to a more expensive but superior form of #horticulture. Anything capable of being manufactured on site like compost tea, green fertilizers etc. would be implemented creating more #jobs and even better financial accessibility. This wins out in so many ways. It gives the farmer guaranteed sales and makes it so they don't overproduce. It gives the company a guaranteed source of fresh produce. It creates jobs. It casts a favourable light on the company... It is actually improving quality of life for people both physically through nutrition and financially through employment. The current model employed by 95% of these fast food giants is to exploit and capitalize... it's time for #change

The test rig.
Connecting it to the batteries actually works. Since the device is always asleep it should theoretically work for months on a battery pack.

This was my first year growing a garden in Vancouver. My partner and I have carrots and herbs for days. It was a lovely experience to get dirty and grow food. I would highly recommend it. Anyone know any carrot recipes? #garden 🥕
